Includes The Snaefell Mountain Railway
With it’s long Celtic heritage, gorgeous scenery and vintage attractions, the Isle of Man has plenty for everyone who loves history and natural beauty. Our tour incorporates all the highlights, as well as a drive around the iconic TT racecourse!
We begin with a trip on the Isle of Man steam railway from Douglas to Port Erin, where we will have time to look around the museum. Our next stop is The Sound, a stunning nature reserve which is a haven for seabirds and seals. Enjoy a drink and snack in the café with it’s fabulous views of The Calf Of Man.
Our next journey is on the Manx Electric Railway, which runs from the East coast to Laxey. Here we board the Snaefell Mountain Railway to ride to the summit where we can admire the spectacular island views. The Victory Café, an ex-Cold War Radar station overlooking the TT Racecourse, is our next stop for the speciality ‘Pie in The Sky’. Back in Laxey we can see ‘The Great Laxey Wheel’, the world’s largest working waterwheel, before returning to the hotel.
No trip to The Isle would be complete without a drive around the TT racecourse, before we finish at the Knockaloe visitor centre, the site of the world’s largest WW1 internment camp, to hear the stories of those people detained there.
You will have a free day in Douglas to explore the town, visit the Manx museum or ride the vintage horse-drawn tram along the prom.
