Our base for this tour is Melrose, located near the Eildon Hills in The Scottish Borders. It’s a perfect place to enjoy the transition from England to Scotland and take in the breathtaking scenery at this time of year.
We will include visits to:
Kelso, with it’s Abbey, castle, and antique shops, a lovely market town in the heart of the Scottish Borders.
Jedburgh, this historic Royal burgh is another highlight with it’s link to Mary Queen of Scots as well as being the scene of many battles and raids.
Peebles is another pretty little town along the River Tweed with stunning scenery, shops and cafes.
Traquair House, Scotland’s oldest inhabited house, having been lived in for over 900 years and visited by 27 Scottish Kings and Queens.
Coldstream, which gave it’s name to the regiment who marched from here to London in 1660 to help restore the British Monarchy.
Berwick-upon-Tweed, the most Northerly town in England, famous for it’s Elizabethan walls, three iconic bridges, amazing wildlife and beaches.
Selkirk stands high above the Ettrick and Yarrow Valleys and is known for being the place where William Wallace was proclaimed Overlord of Scotland.
Galashiels, with it’s rich textile heritage and home of The Great Tapestry of Scotland
You will have a free day in Melrose to relax or explore the nearby town.
