Scarborough is arguably the oldest seaside resort in Britain and advocated sea-bathing more than a century before Regency Brighton! On this tour we take a nostalgic look back at transport, as well as the glorious countryside of Yorkshire.
Helmsley is one of those perfect English market towns with it’s castle ruins, charming tea rooms and old-world charm, surrounded by the beautiful North York Moors. We will have some time here and include entry to the Helmsley Walled Gardens, with it’s 5 acres of different gardens designed to promote health and wellbeing in this haven of peace and tranquillity. We will also stop in Pickering, an historic market town with an abundance of heritage and home to the North York Moors Railway.
You will have a free day in Scarborough to explore. Recharge your batteries with a drink on the terrace of our hotel with it’s cliff-top views over the town .
The Scarborough Fair Collection boasts a magnificent display of working Vintage cars, steam engines, fairground rides and Wurlitzer organ. We will have time at leisure here before continuing to Whitby, with it’s connections to Captain Cook and Dracula, quirky narrow streets and bustling harbour overlooked by the striking Gothic ruins of Whitby Abbey. We will stop at Robin Hood’s Bay to admire the view before returning to the hotel.
